online_comunicationsI’ve heard it said that email will be “going away” in the near future. It seems the newest generation in the workforce uses other technologies to communicate. So I was quite happy when I read this article, You Can’t Kill Email.

I, personally, would rather tap out a quick email on my computer then send a text. Why? It leaves a better paper trail, I can save the email on my computer easily if needed, and my computer is where I do my work – not my phone.

I see social media as fun way to update clients and friends… not really for regular communication.

And old fashioned phone calls? The Today Show anchors were talking one day about phone calls and leaving a voicemail.  All of the show’s anchors (with the exception of Matt Lauer) stated that if someone doesn’t pick up a phone call they are making, they never leave a voicemail, but send a text message instead. I think the theory is that it’s actually easier for the recipient to receive (and respond to) a text, rather than retrieve a voicemail and call someone back.

What other way do you communicate with colleagues or clients – and what’s your preferred method?
